2. Module objectives/intended learning outcomes
The course provides students with a foundational understanding of probability theory and mathematical statistics. In the probability section, students will learn about concepts such as events, probabilities, random variables, and probability distributions, and their characteristics. In the statistics section, students will explore descriptive statistics, estimation theory, hypothesis testing, regression, and correlation. Students will gain this knowledge through a combination of lectures, self-study, and additional readings.
