2. Module objectives/intended learning outcomes
The subject provides the knowledge of data mining procedure, necessary conditions for sampling and data analysis methods in Earth Science. The subjects will focus on theories and practices by using MATLAB, FORTRAN to solve some basic problems in Earth Science such as statistics, time series analysis, geo-statistics, spectral analysis and digital signal processing. Some measured data will be used for application by some specific tools.
Students who complete this module could be achieved the following:
- Knowledge: Be able to Understand the processes and methods of data mining in Earth Science; Practice computer skills to solve typical problems in Earth Science; Apply tools to analyze data in the fields of Oceanography, Meteorology, and Hydrology.
