2. Module objectives/intended learning outcomes

This course provides an introduction to the principles of semiconductors, as well as the structure and operating principles of MOSFETs and other microelectronic components. Additionally, theories related to circuit analysis and calculations are introduced and taught to students. The course structure includes theoretical knowledge on the composition and operation of MOSFETs, MOSFET amplifier circuits such as Common Source (CS) and Common Gate (CG) amplifiers, CMOS logic circuits, and switching point calculations. It also covers the structure and operation of LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), including their luminous regions: visible light, ultraviolet, and infrared. This course serves as a foundation for students to pursue analog and digital IC design in subsequent semesters.
