2. Brief description of the modules

This course serves as a continuation of the introductory electromagnetism course, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between electromagnetic fields and the distribution of charges and currents. The course revisits static electric and magnetic fields, but employs vector calculus to offer a unified perspective. Maxwell's equations are introduced as the fundamental foundation of electrodynamics, similar to Newton's laws in classical mechanics. The course explores the consequences of Maxwell's equations, including the existence of electromagnetic waves in a vacuum. Properties of electromagnetic waves, particularly in homogeneous and isotropic media, are also examined. This course provides a solid foundation for subsequent studies in solid-state physics and serves as a valuable resource for students working on theses involving optoelectronic materials.
