2. Brief description of the modules

This course provides a fundamental introduction to quantum optics, from a summary of foundational knowledge (classical optics, nonlinear optics, laser theory) to photons and atom-photon interactions. The quantum information section gives a general overview of quantum cryptography, quantum computation, and quantum entanglement. Students will recognize the importance and timeliness of this course in modern science and technology, and will be prepared for further in-depth research in this field.
