2. Brief description of the modules

The course will consist of three main components:

• Reviewing atomic spectroscopy, students will learn two analytical methods: atomic emission spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy
• Interactions of light with molecular constituents in matter: rotational, vibrational, and electronic molecular spectra. Theoretical concepts of group theory and molecular symmetry.
• Applications of molecular spectroscopy in analytical chemistry, including infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy
