2. Module objectives/intended learning outcomes
This course equips students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in reading, interpreting, and creating mechanical engineering drawings. The course covers the principles of orthographic projection, dimensioning, dimensional tolerancing, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), surface and material symbols, and standard conventions for effectively communicating design intent.
Students will also be introduced to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and guided in converting 3D models into complete 2D engineering drawings. Through lectures and hands-on exercises, the course enables students to develop professional technical drawing skills and the ability to prepare comprehensive mechanical design documentation.
