2. Module objectives/intended learning outcomes

The PCB Design Engineering course (SEM10136) serves as an important bridge between knowledge of physics and electronic circuits and the development of complete electronic hardware products. The course provides in-depth knowledge of the professional PCB design workflow, including schematic capture and PCB layout, as well as advanced techniques in Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).

Students will learn to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) principles and standards throughout the PCB design process. They will also develop proficiency in industry-standard PCB design software, such as Altium Designer, through an integrated theory-and-practice learning approach.
