On November 12, within the framework of the Vietnam Astronomy and Astrophysics Society Annual Conference 2025 (VASAM 2025), Mr. Võ Nguyễn Nhật Minh – Advisor of the University of Science Astronomy Club (USAC) and Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Amateur Astronomy Network (VAAN) – delivered a presentation introducing USAC’s organizational model and development orientation over nearly a decade of establishment and growth.
In the context of the rapidly expanding movement of astronomy research and science outreach among Vietnamese students, astronomy clubs at the university level remain relatively limited. Currently, only about five student-led astronomy clubs nationwide maintain regular activities, among which USAC is recognized as one of the most active and influential organizations, particularly in the southern region.
At the conference, the presentation focused on USAC’s organizational structure, operational mechanisms, and long-term development strategies. Mr. Nhật Minh highlighted how the club builds its core activity pillars—academic research, science communication, community engagement, and skill development for its members. The report illustrated how a student club can operate effectively, maintain professionalism, and inspire a passion for astronomy and scientific exploration within the broader community.
In addition, the presenter emphasized USAC’s significant role within the Vietnam Amateur Astronomy Network (VAAN), where USAC is regarded as one of the most dynamic and academically reputable units. With many years of accumulated experience, the club currently provides guidance and academic support to various student and high-school astronomy groups across the country. Notable collaborations include long-term support for the Astronomy Club of Huỳnh Mẫn Đạt High School for the Gifted (An Giang), the Astronomy Club of the VNU-HCM High School for the Gifted, and the STEM Club of the University of Education Practice School, Ho Chi Minh City.
Concluding the presentation, Mr. Võ Nguyễn Nhật Minh reaffirmed that USAC will continue to uphold its core mission of “Bringing Astronomy to the Community.” The club will accelerate the development of its ongoing projects, with particular emphasis on expanding the US Science and Space Engineering Group (USSEG)—an initiative that extends beyond the internal scope of the club, aiming toward more advanced scientific and engineering activities. USAC remains committed to serving as a bridge connecting young astronomy enthusiasts with academic and research environments, thereby expanding opportunities and nurturing the potential of the scientific community on its journey toward knowledge discovery.
