1. Introduction to USAC
USAC Astronomy Club is an academic club under the Faculty of Physics - Engineering Physics, University of Sciences, VNU-HCM.
The club is a place for all astronomy enthusiasts in Ho Chi Minh City to exchange and learn, regardless of age. With the motto "Spreading Astronomy to the community", USAC always wishes to accompany the Vietnamese astronomy community and to some extent bring people closer to astronomy, and at the same time equip its members (some club members wish to do in-depth research in the field of Astrophysics) with basic astronomy knowledge.
The strengths of the club:
-
First of all, the club is a place to gather students and pupils who are passionate about Astronomy, promoting the creation of a dynamic and enthusiastic community to learn about Astronomy together.
-
Second, USAC is a club under the Faculty of Physics - Engineering Physics, so USAC has resources and scientific support from teachers of the Faculty of Physics - Engineering Physics such as Dr. Dang Hoai Trung (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Physics - EngineeringPhysics - Main Advisor), MSc. Huynh Thanh Nhan (Department of Physics - Engineering Physics), Dr. Nguyen Nhat Kim Ngan (Department of Physics - Technical Physics), MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Truong (Department of Physics - Technical Physics), MSc. Nguyen Duy Khanh (Department of Physics - Technical Physics), and a number of other teachers. This creates favorable conditions for organizing in-depth activities, inviting experts to share knowledge and access to modern equipment. At the same time, the USAC Astronomy Club recently participated in the founding conference and became an official member of the Vietnam Amateur Astronomy Network, creating conditions for the Club to exchange and participate in non-profit projects with the desire to spread Astronomy in Vietnam with other clubs and organizations such as the Astrophysics Club, the Danang Astronomy Club, ...

2. Main activities of the USAC Astronomy Club
-
Astronomical observation: Organize regular sky observation sessions on weekend evenings to observe the Moon, planets, stars or days with special astronomical events such as meteor showers, conjunctions, eclipses, ....
-
Astronomical camping: Organize camping trips combined with astronomical observations in locations with little urban light to create conditions for members to have the opportunity to observe in reality and exchange astronomical knowledge.
-
Organizing scientific seminars: Invite astronomers and researchers to share knowledge about interesting astronomical topics such as black holes, calendars, etc.
-
Organizing seminars: Club members present astronomical topics that they are researching or interested in to the community such as Telescopes, Stellar Evolution, etc.
-
Making telescopes: Make telescopes or solar system models, interferometers, etc. by yourself to better understand the operating principles and improve practical skills.
-
Cooperating with schools: Organizing talks and astronomical observations at schools such as Tran Khai Nguyen High School, Thoai Ngoc Hau High School for the Gifted - An Giang, VNU-HCM High School for the Gifted, etc.
