On November 22, the Faculty of Physics & Engineering Physics, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, had the pleasure of welcoming nearly 100 students from Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted to visit, explore, and experience academic activities at the Faculty. The program was organised to provide students with opportunities to engage with a university environment, broaden their understanding of science, and gain early career orientation in Physics and the fundamental sciences.
The visit began with an overview of the Faculty of Physics & Engineering Physics, covering its history, training directions, and notable achievements in scientific research. Faculty members introduced students to key research areas currently being developed, including solid-state physics, theoretical physics, optics and photonics, nuclear physics, novel materials, semiconductor technology, and rapidly growing interdisciplinary fields. These insights helped students better understand the role of Physics in scientific and technological innovation, as well as the wide range of career opportunities available to those pursuing this discipline.

Following the introductory session, the students toured the Faculty’s laboratories. Here, they observed research activities firsthand, learned about the operating principles of modern experimental equipment, and listened to explanations from lecturers and laboratory technicians about experimental procedures. The laboratory environment - with measurement systems, optical setups, material analysis instruments, and simulation models - provided students with a vivid and authentic perspective on the scientific world they had previously encountered only through textbooks.
Many students expressed excitement when experiencing a professional research environment for the first time, as well as appreciation for the opportunity to ask questions and interact directly with faculty members engaged in scientific projects. These open and inspiring conversations offered valuable insights into the journey of becoming a scientist, the challenges inherent in research, and the passion that drives scientific inquiry.

In addition, the visit allowed students to learn about the Faculty’s academic programs, including the standard program, the English-enhanced program, and the Talented Bachelor Program. This information will help them consider suitable academic pathways as they plan for their future after high school graduation.
The experiential program not only expanded students’ knowledge but also sparked curiosity and an interest in science. Many expressed a desire to return for deeper exploration or to participate in future academic activities, science camps, and high school student projects organised by the Faculty.
The Faculty of Physics & Engineering Physics sincerely thanks the Board of Principals, teachers, and students of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted for joining in this meaningful activity. The Faculty looks forward to welcoming the students again in upcoming career orientation events, academic experiences, and, hopefully, on their future learning journey at the University of Science. This program also reflects the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to disseminating scientific knowledge and inspiring younger generations to pursue their passion for research and exploration of the natural world.
