On November 11th and 12th, the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with Tohoku University (Japan) and MienTay Construction University, proudly organized the 5th International Conference on Engineering, Physics, MEMS - Biosensors and Applications - ICEBA 2024. This is an important scientific event, bringing together top experts and scientists from around the world in fields such as engineering, MEMS, biosensors, and biomedical technology, to discuss and share the latest research breakthroughs.
The conference was attended by more than 20 professors, associate professors, and doctors from countries including Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and SEMI - the Semiconductor Electronics Manufacturers International, as well as over 300 delegates from universities and colleges in the region, both domestic and international scientists, and leading experts in the fields of Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Sensors and Applications.
The first session - Presentations by international experts
The first session (on November 11th) of ICEBA 2024 featured top international experts, presenting advanced research in the fields of sensors, artificial intelligence, and biomedical science applications.
The presentations included:
1. Prof. Tran Tri Nang - University of Minnesota, USA: Four-side buttable CMOS imaging modules for CT systems
2. Prof. Takohito Ono - Tohoku University, Japan: Micro/Nanomechanical Sensors for Health and IoT
3. MSc. Nguyen Phuc Vinh - ARA, Synopsys, Vietnam: Edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mega Trends and AI Solutions in IC Design Automation
4. Prof. Schulz Jan - Jade University of Applied Sciences, Wilhelmshaven, Germany: The influence of tides on LoRa communications in self-meshing sensor nodes in coastal and near shore waters
5. Prof. Takekazu Ishida - Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan: High-resolution imaging using superconducting sensor under pulsed neutrons


The second session - Presentations of diverse papers
In the second session, experts presented a wide range of papers from various prominent fields:
- Engineering and Applied Physics: Included 15 reports on electronic engineering and applied physics, focusing on practical methods and applications.
- Biomedical Physics and Nuclear Engineering: Featured 8 reports, covering advanced biomedical technology and nuclear applications.
- Semiconductor Technology, Materials, and Devices: 16 reports discussed modern semiconductor technology and new materials, offering new prospects for the industry.
- MEMS and Biomedical Sensors: With 20 groundbreaking reports on biomedical sensor technology and applications, this field attracted significant attention from the research community.
- Microelectronics Systems, Embedded Systems, and AI & IoT: 16 reports explored the applications of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things in embedded systems and microelectronics.
- Computer Science, Simulation, and Modeling: 15 reports presented modern simulation methods and advanced techniques in computer science.
- Architecture, Urban Planning, and Construction: 14 reports shared technological solutions and sustainable urban planning, offering new perspectives on future urban development.

International Science and Technology Collaboration Bridge
ICEBA 2024 served as a bridge for scientists and experts from various countries to collaborate and develop applied scientific projects. The participation of Tohoku University, one of Japan's leading high-tech research centers, along with the University of Danang, is a testament to the strong connection between prestigious universities in bringing science and technology closer to everyday life. It also provided an opportunity for young researchers in Vietnam to exchange knowledge, learn, and develop groundbreaking ideas in biomedical science and medical sensors.
ICEBA 2024 was not only a platform for presenting research but also a meaningful event that promoted the development of biomedical science and sensors in Vietnam. Through the conference, scientific achievements will be applied to real-world challenges, contributing to the improvement of quality of life. ICEBA 2024 marked an important step in affirming Vietnam's role on the international science and technology map, fostering creativity and exploring new frontiers in engineering, physics, and biomedical technology.
The ICEBA 2024 conference was a great success, providing an international forum for scientists and experts to share groundbreaking research, while promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange in engineering, physics, MEMS, and biomedical fields. The event received significant attention and high praise from the scientific community both domestically and internationally, motivating the next steps in the development of the industry.
Next year, the ICEBA conference will be held at two special locations: Vung Tau, Vietnam and Taoyuan, Taiwan. This will be an opportunity to continue expanding the international collaboration network and welcome scientists to these prominent destinations in Asia.
