SEMINAR NOTICE
BCN Department of Physics - Technical Physics welcomes teachers, graduate students, graduate students and students to attend the seminar:
· Report name: Interplay between the Kondo effect and magnetism in actinide intermetallics

· Summary of report: A brief review is presented of the studies of uranium- and neptunium-based intermetallic compounds, which shows an interplay between the Kondo effect and magnetism. These compounds were found to exhibit several exotic phenomena: i) Development of the ferromagnetic order in Kondo lattices. ii) Coexistence of magnetic order and superconductivity iii) Non-Fermi liquid behavior nearby quantum critical points. Some theoretical models and electronic band structure of representative compounds will also be mentioned in order to help understand the complex behaviors of the systems.
