On September 8, 2026, the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, University of Science held a meeting with Coherent Vietnam to discuss potential directions for collaboration in semiconductor technology – a strategic high-tech sector that is playing an increasingly important role in the global technology value chain and generating growing demand for highly skilled talent.
Bridging Academic Training and Industry Needs
The meeting was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Minh Mẫn, General Director of Coherent Vietnam, Ms. Lê Thị Thu Huyền, Human Resources Director, and other representatives from Coherent Vietnam.
Representing the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics were Assoc. Prof. Huỳnh Văn Tuấn, Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Vũ Thị Hạnh Thu, Deputy Head of the Department of Applied Physics, together with faculty members and lecturers.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged perspectives on workforce demand, training orientations, and potential areas of collaboration in the semiconductor sector. Discussions focused on strengthening the alignment between academic training and industry requirements, while providing students with greater opportunities to gain early exposure to industrial environments, emerging technologies, and the professional competencies required in high-tech industries.
Laying the Foundation for Long-Term Partnership
A key outcome of the meeting was the shared direction toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties. The proposed partnership is expected to provide a foundation for developing practical and mutually beneficial collaborative activities between the Faculty and Coherent Vietnam.
Future collaboration is expected to focus on several areas, including strengthening industry-integrated education, expanding internship and employment opportunities for students, fostering professional and research connections, and contributing to the development of highly qualified human resources for the semiconductor industry and related high-tech sectors.
