On September 11, the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, hosted the seminar “Topics in Cosmology”, providing an open academic forum for faculty members, researchers, and students to exchange ideas and explore key issues at the forefront of modern cosmology and astrophysics.

From Relativity to Observational Studies of the Universe
The seminar focused on the role of relativity in understanding and investigating phenomena on cosmological scales, while also highlighting ongoing observational and experimental efforts that are advancing our understanding of the Universe.
Among the key topics discussed were supermassive black holes, galaxy dynamics, and the co-evolution of black holes and their host galaxies. These remain important research areas in modern astrophysics, offering valuable insights into the formation and evolution of galaxies and the role of black holes in the evolution of cosmic structures.

In particular, advances in modern astronomical facilities-including the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), Hubble Space Telescope (HST), Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), and the Keck Observatory-are providing increasingly detailed and high-quality observational data. These resources are opening new avenues for investigating and characterizing supermassive black holes, while enabling researchers to gain deeper insights into the structure, dynamics, and evolution of galaxies.

Connecting Research with Education
Beyond sharing recent research findings and perspectives, the seminar provided a valuable opportunity for direct academic interaction between researchers and students. Through discussion and Q&A sessions, students were able to engage with current research questions, gain insights into scientific approaches and methodologies, and explore potential research directions in astrophysics.
Such activities strengthen the connection between research and education, encouraging students to engage more deeply with specialized scientific fields and gradually develop academic and research interests aligned with their abilities and future aspirations.
