Explore quantum optics and superconductivity

The Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCM is pleased to organize a three-session lecture series on Quantum Optics and Superconductivity, featuring Dr. Nguyễn Trọng Hiền, a lecturer at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), USA.

The lecture series provides an opportunity to explore fundamental concepts in quantum mechanics through contemporary topics in physics and technology. Participants will examine the quantum nature of light, the principles of beam splitters and interferometers, the role of non-classical light in precision measurements, and the physics underlying superconductivity and the Josephson effect.

Speaker

Dr. Nguyễn Trọng Hiền is a lecturer at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and a scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), USA.

His research interests include astrophysics, space science, and space technology. He has contributed to more than 190 scientific publications and is actively involved in teaching and mentoring young scientists.

- September 9, 2026: Beam Splitters, Interferometers, and Non-Classical Light – How Does LIGO Beat the Standard Quantum Limit?

- September 10, 2026: Superconductivity and the Josephson Effect

The lecture series offers students, graduate students, and those interested in modern physics an opportunity to deepen their understanding of quantum physics, connect theoretical concepts with contemporary research and technological applications, and engage directly with a scientist working in an international research environment.
