On November 14, the University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) held the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Silesia in Katowice (USIL), Poland. The event took place as part of the celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Oceanography Program, with the participation of university leaders, representatives from faculties and departments, as well as a large number of lecturers and students.
The MoU aims to strengthen academic exchange, promote collaboration in education and research, and expand scientific development opportunities between the two institutions. Key areas of cooperation include undergraduate and postgraduate student exchange programs, enabling learners to experience an international academic environment, engage in practical research activities, and enhance their professional competencies. In addition, the two universities will foster the exchange of lecturers and researchers for interdisciplinary teaching and research activities, contributing to broadening academic perspectives and international experience for the academic community.
In terms of scientific research, HCMUS and USIL plan to implement joint research projects, establish inter-institutional research groups, and co-organize conferences and international workshops to promote knowledge sharing, expand expert networks, and improve the quality of scientific publications. Both sides also agreed to exchange learning materials, scientific publications, and academic resources to support training, research, and program development.

The signing of the MoU between the University of Science, VNU-HCM and the University of Silesia in Katowice marks a new milestone in the University’s internationalization strategy, opening up more opportunities for learning, research, and academic exchange for students and faculty. This cooperation is expected to contribute to enhancing training quality, strengthening international integration, and promoting the strengths of both institutions in natural sciences, environmental studies, and interdisciplinary research.
