Have you ever looked up at the sky and wondered:
- “Is there someone out there watching us?”
- “Is there an equation that could prove the existence of aliens?”
- And perhaps the most challenging question: “Could we ever… hunt them down?”
To explore these fascinating questions, the USAC Astronomy Club, in collaboration with the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, is honored to invite you to a scientific seminar presented by Dr. John Hoàng, Research Fellow of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program at UC Berkeley, USA, and Physics Tutor for AI at xAI, USA.
During this seminar, we will delve into:
- The scientific foundations of studying extraterrestrial life — from the essential conditions for life, the concept of a “habitable zone” around stars, to modern hypotheses about the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations.
- Observation methods and signal analysis using radio telescopes — how SETI scientists employ giant radio observatories to “listen” to the universe, detect anomalous signals distinct from natural noise, and apply advanced technologies (such as artificial intelligence) to analyze millions of signals every day.
Audience: Students, pupils, and anyone interested in astronomy and space science.
Time: 9:30 – 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2025
Venue: Room E105, University of Science – VNU-HCM Campus, Dong Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
