Congratulations to the Oceanography Program at HCMUS on Achieving ASIIN International Accreditation through 2030

The Oceanography program, along with three other programs in the field of Earth Sciences at the University of Science, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), has been officially recognized as meeting international standards by ASIIN (Germany), with accreditation valid until September 30, 2030.

This marks the first time that the programs in Oceanography, Meteorology, Hydrology, and Oceanography–Meteorology–Hydrology have undergone evaluation by ASIIN—one of Europe’s leading accreditation agencies, specializing in the assessment of STEM education programs. The achievement of this international standard is a strong testament to the program’s academic quality, up-to-date curriculum, and the expertise of the university’s teaching staff.

The Oceanography program, offered by the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics at HCMUS, is the only program of its kind in Southern Vietnam that provides high-quality human resources in marine science. Over nearly two decades of development, the program has established itself as a pioneer in training, research, and community service in the field. The recognition from ASIIN is the result of continuous efforts by faculty and students to innovate the curriculum and improve the quality of teaching and learning.

In the current context, where fundamental sciences face numerous challenges related to resources and societal demand, obtaining international accreditation from ASIIN provides a solid foundation for the continued development of the Oceanography program in particular, and Earth Sciences programs in general. This accomplishment not only enhances the academic reputation of the university but also affirms its global competitiveness in education and scientific research.
