For second-year students, particularly at the end of the academic year, choosing a major is not only a significant milestone in their academic journey but also the starting point for building a long-term career path. This period often comes with many questions and uncertainties, such as: “Which major best suits my abilities?”, “What are the career prospects after graduation?”, or “Will I have opportunities for further research or studying abroad in this field?”
Understanding these concerns, the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, organized Major Orientation Day 2025 for students of the 2023 cohort. The event aimed to provide students with a comprehensive, objective, and inspiring perspective to help them make informed decisions about their academic and professional paths.
The program was thoughtfully designed around two main components, combining hands-on experience with academic dialogue:
Part 1 – Departmental lab tours and practical experience:
Students had the opportunity to visit the modern laboratories of seven departments within the Faculty. During these tours, they observed ongoing research projects and were introduced to specialized equipment, tools, and learning environments unique to each major. This valuable experience enabled students to better visualize their future study environment and gain a deeper understanding of the real-world applications of each discipline.

Part 2 – Major presentations and faculty interaction:
In this segment, representatives from each department presented an overview of their training programs, teaching methodologies, research directions, and career prospects both in Vietnam and abroad. The session became increasingly vibrant as students actively engaged in discussions, asking questions and interacting directly with the Faculty Board and lecturers—individuals who will play a key role in guiding and accompanying them throughout their specialized studies.
Major Orientation Day 2025 was more than just an informational event—it was a platform that fostered meaningful connections between students and faculty, bridged theory with practice, and transformed uncertainty into clarity. Most importantly, it served as a source of inspiration, encouraging students to explore, pursue their passions, and confidently choose the path that aligns best with their strengths and aspirations.
