On September 26, 2026, the Department of Geophysics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, hosted a seminar entitled “Geophysics and Its Applications.” The academic event provided a platform for professional exchange, the sharing of research findings, and discussion of the practical applications of geophysics.

The seminar was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Le Van Anh Cuong, Head of the Department of Geophysics, and brought together faculty members and researchers from the Department of Geophysics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, as well as colleagues from partner institutions, including the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, VNU-HCM, and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry. The event also welcomed experts and representatives from industry, including TTAsia Company Ltd. (TTA), along with a large number of students interested in geophysics and its related applications.

At the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Le Van Anh Cuong delivered a technical presentation on geophysics, focusing on research topics related to the geological structure of Cu Chi, Ho Chi Minh City. The presentation provided professional perspectives on the study area while raising a number of research questions for further discussion among faculty members, researchers, and students.

A particular highlight of the program was the participation of two guest speakers, who brought complementary perspectives from both academia and industry. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kha, from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, VNU-HCM, presented and discussed the application of seismic methods in oil and gas exploration and reserve assessment. Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Head of the Industrial Department at TTA, shared insights from an industry perspective on the applications of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, as well as two competency certification systems for professionals working in the field. These contributions helped further illustrate the connection between geophysical knowledge and practical industry needs.

Through the seminar, the Department of Geophysics continued to promote academic exchange and strengthen connections with educational institutions, research organizations, and industry partners. The event also provided students with opportunities to engage with real-world issues and professional applications in the field. In this regard, the seminar contributed to fostering professional interaction and strengthening the geophysics community across universities and organizations working in related fields.
The “Geophysics and Its Applications” seminar on September 26, 2026, was held in an engaging academic atmosphere, featuring substantive discussions and meaningful exchanges. The Department of Geophysics sincerely thanks all speakers, invited guests, faculty members, and students for their participation and valuable contributions to the success of the event.
