On the afternoon of October 16, 2025, the Department of Oceanography, Meteorology, and Hydrology under the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) organized a scientific seminar titled “Carbon Market, Carbon Credit Mechanism, and the Roadmap for Vietnam’s Participation in the Carbon Market”. The session was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Hồng, from the Sub-Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change.
In his presentation, the speaker provided updated information and in-depth analysis on:
- An overview of the carbon market and carbon credit mechanism;
- The legal framework and roadmap for developing Vietnam’s carbon market according to Decree No. 06/2022/NĐ-CP and Decision No. 13/2024/QĐ-TTg;
- Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam in realizing its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

The seminar attracted a large number of students from the majors of Oceanography and Physics, along with lecturers from the Faculties of Environment, Geology, and Chemistry. The atmosphere was lively, with active discussions on topics such as greenhouse gas reduction, carbon absorption in oceans and mangrove forests, and the role of science in promoting sustainable development.

The event not only broadened students’ understanding of green economy, renewable energy and the carbon market, but also reaffirmed the pioneering role of the University of Science, VNU-HCM in education and research in the fields of environment, meteorology, and oceanography.
Through this seminar, the message of responsibility for the planet and action toward a green, sustainable future was powerfully conveyed to the university’s academic community.
