SUMMARY OF THE TALKSHOW “TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR INSIGHTS: WORK OPPORTUNITIES FOR VIETNAMESE”

On May 7, 2025, the Faculty of Physics & Engineering Physics, University of Science, VNU-HCM, in collaboration with Cake Company, successfully organized a talkshow titled “Taiwan semiconductor insights: Work opportunities for Vietnamese”. The event was part of a series of career orientation activities aimed at connecting students with opportunities in the semiconductor industry.

The talkshow attracted significant interest and participation from students, especially those pursuing careers in semiconductors – one of the world’s fastest-growing and most critical industries.

During the event, students had the opportunity to hear valuable insights from Mr. Weicheng - COO of the global recruitment platform Cake, and Ms. Lam Doan - A former international student with a full MBA scholarship at Chang Gung University (Taiwan), who has several years of experience working in leading tech companies.

The talkshow focused on several key topics:

  • An overview of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry: Why Taiwan – home to giants such as TSMC, UMC, ASE Group, MediaTek, and Realtek – holds a leading position in the global market.

  • Concrete job opportunities for Vietnamese students: The growing demand for young engineers from Vietnam in fields such as IC design, embedded software, testing, and production line operations.

  • Global talent mobility trends: Vietnam's increasingly prominent role in the Asia–Pacific semiconductor talent landscape.

  • Essential preparation and experience sharing: From technical and language skills to CV building, visa application, and strategies for long-term career growth at global branches in the U.S., Singapore, Japan, and beyond.

The Q&A and networking session was lively, with many questions from students regarding salary levels, benefits, working environments, and opportunities for further study and skill development at major technology corporations in Taiwan.

The candid sharing and practical advice from the two guest speakers provided students with a clearer understanding of career pathways in the semiconductor industry, while also motivating them to proactively enhance their competencies and pursue international job opportunities.

This talkshow served as a practical, inspiring, and highly interactive platform that connected students with the global labor market. Through such activities, the Faculty of Physics – Engineering Physics reaffirms its commitment to supporting students on their journey of academic advancement, career development, and global integration in the era of Industry 4.0.
