On March 22, 2026, the Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM-US), in collaboration with the USAC Astronomy Club, organized USACTalk #03, entitled “Black Holes in Light and Gravity: A Multi-Messenger Story.” The seminar provided scientific insights into black holes, gravitational waves, and multi-messenger astronomy.

During the seminar, the speaker introduced approaches to studying and observing black holes through electromagnetic radiation and gravitational waves, highlighting how these signals enable scientists to investigate physical phenomena in regions of spacetime characterized by extremely strong gravitational fields.
The presentation explored major milestones in black hole research, including the quasar 3C 273, the X-ray binary system Cygnus X-1, the first detection of gravitational waves in 2015, and the release of the first direct image of a black hole in 2019. The speaker also discussed outstanding research questions, particularly the formation of supermassive black holes in the early universe and future advances in black hole observation.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion on the nature of event horizons, observational limitations in astronomy, and emerging opportunities in multi-messenger astronomy.
USACTalk #03 not only provided participants with insights into contemporary astrophysics but also fostered academic exchange, scientific curiosity, and research engagement among students.
The Faculty of Physics and Engineering Physics and the USAC Astronomy Club extend their sincere appreciation to the speaker for the insightful presentation and to all participants for their active engagement and contributions to the success of the seminar.
